Working Mom

Monday is a day I've been both eagerly awaiting and dreading - depending on the moment you ask me. After two glorious years home with my daughter, I am returning to the professional working world. I say "professional" because, let's be honest, two years at home with an infant-turned-toddler isn't for the faint hearted. But I digress. It's really starting to sink in for me. Especially as I type this post, at my new desk, staring out the window. I'm thinking of all those projects I'd planned to do but just never got around to...probably due to a nap. I'm thinking of getting our lives organized so that this change won't completely knock us on our asses. I'm prepping my husband for the changes he is in for. No, I can't drop off your dry cleaning/pick up you prescription/run to the store/etc. I'm worrying over our daughter who, until now, has only been away during brief Mother's Day Out days or our few vacations. No more rand

An email to my daughter

Norey,  Right now you are probably having lunch (chicken salad, crackers, strawberries) at MDO. I'm sitting in your room typing on my laptop. To be exact - I'm sitting in the glider. Your room is dim and quiet. I love this room.  It is purely peaceful.  And it is helping to calm your neurotic mother right now. We are expecting some nasty weather today, and I'm on edge.  This morning when I got up to hide your new Abby doll - you don't know about it yet, but we got a 20" plush Abby doll for you and plan to surprise you with it Sunday - Ellie was acting particularly strange. She was hovering. But there wasn't any food for her to be waiting on, so I looked more closely and she was just shivering all over. Then I fed her and she wouldn't even eat (very out of character). I know Ellie has that sixth sense they talk about.  She knew I was pregnant with you before I even knew. During those first few weeks she all of a sudden starting sleeping on the be

Family Time

What a beautiful weekend. Not just the weather, but the time spent with family. Norey and I were able to head down to my parents' home for the long weekend (Sunil had a major work project, so the quiet house was perfect for him to focus). And to double the fun ~ B was there! The girls got to spend three whole nights together. They went to the park. They had a bubble bath. They had a squealing match. They had beautiful, quality time together. Norey does not yet have little kid friends. Our small group of close friends do not have kids ~ we are the only ones with a child. So she is going to have to make friends through MDO or school...or hopefully through my magical and swimmingly fabulous personality. But she and B showed that they are growing closer. They shared many smiles (sometimes just after tears) and even some warm hugs. It was tough to leave this afternoon. But I am thankful that we have this family. And that this little girl called Norey has a lot of love.

#Whole30Argyle

I'm starting...I've started a Whole30 Argyle edition on Facebook. I've been posting up some of my favorite meals. Those that really fall within the category of I-don't-wanna-feel-like-I'm-on-a-diet or homestyle my mom would've made. Just with some different ingredients. I've also recruited a friend to join in with me on my March 2nd start date for this round. And now I'm getting some actual neighbors on board. Some have already completed a round or two. I hope this can become a strong neighborhood and community of people who lead healthy lives and encourage each other to continue doing so...

Day 4

Let's talk about the past two days.  Day 2. Ugh. Nap. Ugh. Day 3. Don't piss me off and we will be ok. Nap. Hi. This is great! Now to today. Day 4. After going to bed (hubs too) by 10, reading some of my book (All The Light We Cannot See), and doing one last baby cam check, I slept beautifully. So beautifully that I'm sure I was a smoosh-faced, drooling sleep monster most of the night. This morning is supposed to be "Kill All the Things", but I feel surprisingly ready to take on anything. I'm looking forward to cleaning up the rest of the house and doing some projects that have seriously needed doing for weeks now.  I even did my phone call "to-do" first thing this morning. That NEVER happens. I hate doing phone call things.  Breakfast with Norey was some fruit with the leftover overnight casserole. Mine had a little added Frank's Red Hot. We each had some water as well. Of course, the little miss had a cup of milk too.   Fla

W30: Day 1

It's the morning of day 1. All I want is a cold Diet Dr. Pepper over a mountain of ice.  Crisp. Yummy. Just a hint of sweet. Soooo refreshing...mmmmmmmm. Ice water to the rescue! Yay?
